Theatre being the choice and challenge, a group of young but competent theatre workers formed “MALDA MALANCHA" in 1993 to devote itself to the task of promoting the glorious tradition of experi- mental theatre movement which helps in identifying oneself as a human being and not to produce merely a member of the human society. In the process, Malancha ventured to produce some signifi- cant modern plays, both original as well as translated.  Being proud of the heritage of experimental theatre, Malancha has engaged to dedicate itself more and more in exploring new ideas and ventures towards distinct welfare of this society.

Activities -Production and Performances(s)

Malda Malancha is a well-known theatre group of West Bengal. Most of the plays of our group have been invited in different state level festivals organized by Paschimbanga Natya Akademy and International level, organized by NSD and other organizations. Our noted Productionsare Ebong Vidyasagar, Gambhira Gambhira,Alkap Maya,Laxmikanta, Ranirghater Brittanta, Udas Puja, Swasti, Ratan, Bodh, Balance, Jwala, LotunJebon, Asamoyer Bhabna etc.  We have staged our plays in almost all the districts of West Bengal and also in other States. We are proud to have performed our productions in All India Multi-Lingual Drama Festival, Cuttack, Orissa, and All India Drama Festival, Bongaigaon, Assam. We are very glad that Malda Malancha’s production “Gambhira Gambhira” , financially assisted by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, has been selected in the 17th BHARAT RANG MAHOTSAV (17th BRM) organized by NSD. The play Gambhira Gambhira has already marked its excellence in the world theatre by its outstanding performance in the 17th Bharat Rang Mahotsab. The play has been given two shows – on 5th February`2015 at New Delhi and on 8th February`2015 at Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
